Looking at Placencia

homesickgypsy

Older single woman hoping to retire in Belize. May or may not bring a friend.

Looking at Placencia as checking most of my boxes so far, but open to other ideas. Cheap housing is a must on a fixed income and plain is fine. I've found a couple of places out of the city limits of Placencia which would work as long as I can walk/bike into town. I want to be able to walk or bike most places that I need to go. I'd like to be able to walk to see the ocean.

I have two small dogs. I'm very laid back, easy going and just want to enjoy my time doing things on my own time. Like to socialize occasionally but mostly just hang out at home. Don't like to shop. Prefer food shopping in small stores and farmer's market and fruit stands.

Not considering QRP anymore, just tourist visa at first, check out several areas and then decide where to land.

I will be arriving at Goldson Airport 10/25/2023 at 230pm and have a driver to Placencia. If anyone is interested in sharing it is 180USD one way for 1-2 people.

@homesickgypsy getting to the ocean is easy since on a peninsula.  Biking or walking is probably out of the question since the peninsula is about 20 miles long.  You would have to pick a spot close to one of the villages.  You're talking on a budget.  Recommend you get with two different Realtors.  Tell them what you want and see what is available for your price.  Recommend you rent an airbnb similar to what you would like to start with.
