Hey! Just found this site, I’m wondering what the process would be if I wanted to move to the UK with my kids 17, 12, and 8 years old.  I have British Citizenship and a passport, my kids do not.  Any general info is appreciated! Thanks 😊

Hello Jlento,

Welcome on board !

In which province/region of Canada do you live ?

We could refer you to the nearest diplomatic institution.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

If you registered your children's births with the UK Government, then they just need to apply for their passports; if you didn't, then I advise you to do it as soon as possible, this link will take you straight to the UK Gov website where it explains how to do it.  Once you have a UK passport, then there is no process (except for finding a house, job etc etc).

I hope this helps.

I should’ve mentioned my citizenship is by descent, my mother was born in England.  I think that changes things…sorry

Hi again.

If you were born abroad and obtained your British passport by way of one parent being British, then yes, your children would have no right to inherit British Nationality from you based on your British passport.

Then you need one of the family styles of visas; this link will take you to the UK Gov website which lists all of them.  Assuming you are not rich and would need to work, then either you would need to find a job that paid enough to support all of your family, or your husband would need to find a job that fitted into the skilled migrant category (link).  One last point, your eldest child would need to qualify in his own right (skilled migrant work visa) once he reaches the age of 18.

My gut feeling is that this is not going to be easy to achieve, but whatever, I wish you all the best of luck.

I hope this helps.
