Description
A well-established medium-sized manufacturing company in Accra is seeking to recruit an experienced, highly competent, and trustworthy Chief Financial Officer / Senior Finance Manager.
The successful candidate will lead the finance and accounting function, maintain strong controls, ensure statutory compliance, and support the company's local and international trading activities.
Key responsibilities
Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and financial statements
Oversee general accounting, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, payroll, inventory, and fixed-asset records
Establish and maintain sound internal controls, financial procedures, and accurate accounting records
Ensure all tax, statutory, and regulatory returns are prepared and filed on time
Liaise professionally with relevant government and regulatory bodies, including the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Immigration, Customs, and other relevant authorities
Support and manage financial aspects of import, export, international trade, shipping documentation, foreign suppliers, and related payments
Coordinate audits, respond to audit queries, and implement recommendations
Provide management with clear financial analysis and commercial advice to support decision-making
Supervise and develop finance and accounting staff
Be available to work on Saturdays when required
Other Responsibilities
Oversee and verify production records, including daily production output, raw-material usage, wastage, work-in-progress, and finished-goods reports.
Maintain effective controls over stock records for raw materials, packaging materials, spare parts, work-in-progress, and finished products; carry out regular stock counts and reconciliations against physical inventory and accounting records.
Review production costs, material consumption, wastage, and variances, and report any discrepancies or control weaknesses to management promptly.
Maintain complete, accurate, and properly filed accounting records, invoices, payment vouchers, receipts, delivery notes, import and export documents, tax records, and other statutory documentation.
Oversee customer invoicing, customer account reconciliations, receivables ageing, and follow-up of outstanding customer payments.
Monitor customer credit limits and recommend appropriate action on overdue balances, disputed invoices, or credit-risk concerns.
Ensure that cash received from customers is properly recorded, banked, reconciled, and matched to the relevant customer accounts.
Work closely with production, warehouse, sales, procurement, and management teams to ensure accurate reporting and strong internal controls.
Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
Professional qualification such as ICAG/CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent is strongly preferred
Minimum 10 years' practical accounting and finance experience in Ghana
Significant experience in a medium-sized manufacturing, trading, import/export, or industrial company
Proven ability to prepare complete financial statements, manage statutory compliance, and work with external auditors
Strong practical knowledge of Ghanaian taxation, GRA procedures, and business regulatory requirements
Experience handling import and export transactions, international payments, trade documentation, and interactions with government agencies
Strong Excel and accounting/ERP software skills
Mature, disciplined, hardworking, discreet, and able to perform effectively in a demanding environment
Must demonstrate unquestionable honesty, integrity, competence, and attention to detail
Other requirements
Proven experience managing production-cost records, inventory/stock controls, customer accounts, accounts receivable, and debt collection within a manufacturing or trading environment.
Ability to reconcile physical stock with accounting records, investigate variances, and implement corrective controls.
Strong knowledge of customer billing, credit control, cash collection, debtor ageing, and account reconciliations.
