For the EU Citizen:

1. NIF (Tax Identification Number): You can apply for a NIF at a Serviço de Finanças (Tax Office) or a Loja do Cidadão (Citizen's Shop) in Porto. Please note that in some locations, it is likely that you will need to book an appointment in advance.

1. Documents for NIF: Identification document (Identity Card from the country of origin or a Passport) and proof of address (this can be the address in your country of origin if you are not yet residing in Portugal).

1. Registration: After residing in Portugal for 3 months, you must apply for the Certificado de Registo de Cidadão da União (Registration Certificate for EU Citizens) at the Câmara Municipal (Town Hall) of your area of residence.

For the Spouse (Non-EU):

1. NIF: If the spouse is already in Portugal with their European partner, they can apply for a NIF by presenting their passport. Important note: If they are still considered a "non-resident," the Tax Authority (Finanças) may require a Fiscal Representative (someone residing in Portugal, such as a solicitor or a friend who accepts the responsibility). The EU spouse themselves can act as the representative, provided they already have residency in Portugal.

1. Visa/Residency: You must book an appointment with AIMA to apply for the Cartão de Residência para Familiar de Cidadão da União Europeia (Residence Card for a Family Member of an EU Citizen):

1. Requirements: You will need the marriage certificate (apostilled and translated) and proof that the European spouse has sufficient financial resources and accommodation.

Property Purchase:
