Getting residential rate with ARMS

rainbow3

Can anyone tell me if you need to go in person with your landlord to the ARMS office to show them your residency document and id card or if you can just fill in your details and give a photocopy of the documents to your landlord to take in?

Note at the bottom of the form about presenting in person.

i did it all via email and scanned documents incl the application - took about 5-6 weeks but it should have taken one week - landlord didnt even have to go - but this was for us to be included in the landlords account as a registered consumer - we didnt want the bill in our name as that has high cost implications for you and the landlord (when you leave and he want s it back in his name)

NB i have done this successfully twice in the last four years - the most recent 5-6 month ago.

scanned copies of id cards and res certs front and back of all consumers and the landlords too (account holder)

plus clearly the application form for change of consumer numbers signed by all parties.

Thanks for your reply redmik, I dont see on that form where it actually says "present in person" I may be reading it wrong, it does say to present an id card but further down it says to submit documentary evidence and I have also seen somewhere else where it says that you can submit your application by post, thats why I wondered if anyone had any personal experience of this process.

Thanks toon, its good to hear from someone who has gone through the process, I did mean to have us put as registered users on our landlord's account, not have the bills in our name cos I know that costs money, I think I will give our landlord the completed application form and copies of our residency document and id cards and see what happens from there.

Thanks again both for your help

Sorry I must have misread it or misinterpreted the line 'The applicant must present his/her Identity Card. (please indicate if Identity Card is not available. eg. children)

We had the same experience as Toon, our landlord provided the form by post we filled it in and returned it along with copies of our ID and residency cert. All done within a week or so and no need to go to ARMS.

The form you need from the landlord is the one for "updating the number of people on your account" its shown on the ARMS website but the link for the download does not work for me.

I guess the "applicant" in this case is the landlord.

even the landlord doesnt have to go - as long as he has completed hi bit of the app form and you have completed your bit and both you and landlord supply copies of front and back of id cards and res certs etc then all should be ok..all done by email.

Thanks again toon
