Wonder why their playing with this:

VietNamNet Bridge – From April 15 this year it will take only five days, instead of the former seven for overseas Vietnamese to receive a visa waiver.
This decision was stated in Decision No 10/2012/QD-TTg, replacing the former directive on the issue.
Under the new decision, any overseas Vietnamese returning to the country with the Entry Visa Waiver document are allowed to stay up to 90 days per visit. For longer stays, an organisation or individual must sponsor visitors and they must have a legitimate reason. Extensions will be capped at a further 90 days.
Extension requests must be submitted five days before the first entry period has expired.
To apply for an extension, the applicant must have a valid passport and a form requesting the change in visa and the extension of their stay with certification from the local police

Another reason for Viet Kieu to reclaim their citizenship?

I know a French-borm woman whose mother is French and her father was Ede, from DakLak, who was declared a Viet Kieu and now has two passports (one VN).

Her husband is from Morocco and her three children ...!

Hello Fellas,

Back in the middle of last December, as I boarded a flight from Can Tho to Hanoi, I grabbed one of the English newspapers.  In it, there was an article about the central government reducing the interest rate down to the 10% level.

When I returned from my trip, I asked my banker friends in Can Tho about the new rate.  They all looked at me like I was from the moon or something.  One of the more respected banking executives told me, "Don't buy into such hype!  It is not going to happen and it won't happen in a quite sometimes."

I later checked the Vietnamese newspapers, and sure enough, nothing was written about such reduction.  I was liked, "WTF!  In English, we are fed a different thing now?"

My friends' words still ring true, as we speak.  So, don't buy much into what you read, especially when it is in English, fellas......  I really hope that you guys dig what I am trying to say.

Can you explain the new rules of visa extension?
I have an Indian friend who wish to extend but the travel agencies refused by saying they don't know the reason. What's the next step for him?

When  the reason is translated- usually comes out: "decision". For some reason or not, yes, Indian citizen do have a very hard time, when doing their paper work, it takes longer and envelopes are expected to be bigger. Sad, but it is not a single observation.

People are still posting about "Can you explain the new rules of visa extension?" I've asked on this site numerous time: What new visa regulations? Yet to be answered.

There are as far I know none-new. Apparently new is, the rules set about 2. years are some partially or randomly enforced.

The only new I see in this one, that somebody did gasp it now as new.

Always remember, for a newcomer the rules might be new, especially when blended with dream salaries.

Budman1,

Take up a Vietnamese name, like Teo or Tam, then apply for Vietnamese citizenship.  You are NEEEVER going to have to worry about visa, again. :):D:lol::one

Howie,
Not really concerned about visa's right now. I just think there are too many people, mostly new ones that are being fed information that some visa regulations have changed, when in fact nothing has. There are some enforcements on the old ones, but thats it. Now about changing my name to Vietnamese do you think this would fly: Nguyen Sinh Cung. Just has a really good ring to it don't you think.

Budman1,

I think Nguyen Van Teo or Nguyen Van Tam sounds a lot better.  :proud

On a more serious note, the only thing that changed is Vietnamese immigration and the district police are more strict with the sponsoring party than they used to be.  That is all.

Before, as long as the sponsor was the Head of the Household, that was good; no question asked.  Now, they just ask a little about your relationship and the reason for pro-longed stay.  If satisfactorily answered, they will approve your request, just like before...

Hi Guys,

I just arrived in VN a month ago, so no idea of rules or regulation concerning visas. But my dad stays in VN each year up to 6 months.

Each time he filled out a form and let it signed by the person he is registered at and brought that form together with the passport to the police. They stamped it and the visa is immediately extended. It took him a day in total.

Don´t know if this helps out. But I will do it the same way in a month ;)

Cheers,
Kim
