I help foreign buyers get a mortgage to buy a home in Portugal, whether you already live here or are buying from abroad.

Who I am: Luís Maciel, 25+ years in Portuguese banking (Millennium BCP, Deutsche Bank, ABANCA), including 12 years as a Deutsche Bank branch director. I now work independently as a credit intermediary through Mútuo Valor, Lda, registered with the Banco de Portugal under no. 0007441.

Who I work with: non-residents buying a second home or a home before moving; new residents with little or no credit history in Portugal; people with income in GBP, USD, SEK, CHF and other currencies; self-employed people and business owners with income abroad.

How it works: first, a quick assessment of whether you can get a mortgage and for how much. Then I present your file to several Portuguese banks and compare their offers. I handle the documents and the contact with the bank through approval and valuation, and I stay with you until the deed.

The whole process is in English. My service is free for clients; I am paid by the bank.
