In 2012, my husband applied for a scholarship to do his masters over here (for the second time) and he got accepted, a month after I finished my bachelors, we packed our bags said our goodbyes and moved to Hamburg. My husband came two weeks before us to find an apartment, so that he had everything ready to go once we arrived. I'd say it wasn't difficult to settle down here since we had everything ready by the time we got here.

Definitely do it sooner rather than later, it's a great experience, I can't believe I didn't do it sooner.
