Moving to Oman with a disability

Hello everyone,

Having a disability should not be a barrier to living abroad. While the intricacies of one's move to Oman may be specific to the individual, certain steps can be undertaken to make the process smoother.

What are the important aspects you would personally keep in mind during the planning phase (social security benefits, ongoing medical treatment, etc.)?

Are you required to go through a medical check-up before your move?

Are there any organisations or groups who lend support to expatriates who have a disability?

What are your thoughts on the infrastructure in Oman (public spaces, transportation and buildings)?

Are there enough opportunities to make the most of your social life in Oman? Are leisure activities made accessible to people with disabilities?

Please do share your experience with us.

My personal feeling, if any one have dis-ability or not fit than better to live in his/her own country as the love, care, affection & majorly treatment facility with our own is far better than un-known countries.

Dr/Clinics are not well versed with our medication/diseases so precaution is always a concern.

Yes in oman specially dis-able people have more advantage than normal people as these people are good from humanity point of view.

One can find separate parking for special class people & there are ramps/slopes in malls/gardens/main street roads so from that part not an problem, very well take care by local & expat citizens
