China town in D5 has every material imaginable, including denim.

Chinatown, district 5 Chợ Lớn. Start heading west on this one way street, Tran Hung Dao, from this intersection and you are in fabric city. Don't know about denim.
There are also a lot of fabric shops at Tan Dinh Market.
