My friend's husband cancelled his Bahrain work permit and returned to India in March 2017 due to an emergency. Now he wants to return to join his wife. Is there a ban period stopping him from coming back on a visit visa?

Don't think there is any such rule, if the visa was cancelled through the legal process there should not be any issues in getting a visit visa.
