I am looking for a second home, somewhere Quiet, where there are no Farangs, where people will get to know & treat you fair, some place Safe to grow old. I have thought about Kao Yai, off the beaten path away from the Tourist. My wife is Thai so no problem us buying property. Does anyone have any idea's for me? Patrick

Go to Asia Bookstore or Kinokuniya bookstore to buy a map. Best is self drive and check the place out. There are so many places without foreigners and quiet too. Every one's choice is different as there are river; waterfall; beach; mountain etc in Thailand. As you had said your wife is Thai, she should be able to give some recommendations or ask her relatives too.
Get out of your apartment to roam Thailand instead of waiting for recommendations as your taste can be different from others.
