'Tis the season (Halloween): Where to buy pumpkins in HCMC

I have lived here a few years now and Halloween is becoming more popular every year. It is apparent by the increasing number of costume shops and Halloween parties in schools, restaurants, and bars. However, I still cannot find a place to buy pumpkins.

I have seen "Vietnamese pumpkins" during other times of the year but not in October. Maybe they are out of season this time of year?? They are smaller and not really orange in color as the traditional western style pumpkins. I have seen pictures of pumpkin patches in Da Lat that are the big orange pumpkins that we see in western countries so I know they exist in Vietnam.

My question to any of you is; where can I buy pumpkins in Saigon? I would like to get some to carve for my son and also for some of my students. Any suggestions would be grateful.

Thanks
Chris

Pumpkins in VietNam are a little different than in the West because the skin /rind of the pumpkin is green and yellow.

I will be traveling from what has become Halloween Central (Salem, MA USA) in a week or so.

Not sure if a burnt witch can fit in my luggage.

Maybe need to visit this guy in Da Lat. He seems to be the pumpkin guru of Vietnam.
