Expat Dom's Bed & Breakfast: $3-5K Profits Per Month

Ex-Clevelander/current YouTuber Domenick Buonamici today posted a video that is a primer on how to operate a small hotel near Quito at a profit.

His 12-unit, moderately-priced hotel with a pool (believed to be Quito Airport Suites, which closed for part of the pandemic) has brought in revenues of as much as $30,000 a month, although Dom says the 30K month of October 2019 was a fluke.

Normally, in pre-pandemic times, Dom's bed-n-breakfast netted profits of $3-5,000 per month.

Dom lists his payroll and pool maintenance expenses .. and how he heats the pool (solar heating and subsidized LP gas are the keys).

He tells how he retains employees .. and how most of the time he spends on the hotel involves answering phones and email.

He acknowledges that The Situation severely damaged his occupancy rate.

He discusses his lease arrangement for the land, on which sits the hotel and two other buildings.

He talks about the type of person best suited to start such a business in Ecuador...
