Considering buying a winter home in Gambia

Hello, I am retired and looking for a warm place not too far from UK with good fishing and reasonable cost of living and was wondering about Gambia as a contender. I was thinking of getting some
where there where my adult kids and grandkids could visit and also allow me to spend the colder months in a warm climate.
I'd be grateful for any opinion as to Gambia as a destination for this purpose. I have visited Senegal many years ago and liked it a lot and feel it has a lot to offer but anyone who has done this would have another perspective.
