Keeping in touch while living in Georgia

Hello everyone,

What are the best ways you've found for keeping in touch with friends and family back home while living in Georgia? How frequently do you stay in touch with loved ones?

Are there local equivalents to common instant messaging and online video calling services that you prefer or are more widely used?

If there is a sizeable time difference, how do you manage this?

Do you make international phone calls from a landline or mobile phone from Georgia? What do you think of the cost?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Priscilla

Hi Priscilla,

I normally use WhatsApp to contact my family and friends my in home country. I also mostly use it to contact my friends in Georgia too.
I call my family 3 - 4 times a week.

Georgians normally use Facebook, WhatsApp and Viber for messaging.

If your family have not access to Internet, you can use Skype phone to call them. You only need to buy Skype credits and charge your Skype account to be able to contact to a phone number located in your home country. The rates are not very expensive. You can see the rates here: https://secure.skype.com/en/calling-rates?expo365=empty

Have a nice day.
