Cost of groceries

Just wanted to share with you all:

Here is what $5 (five dollars) bought me at the local market in La Libertad (neighboring town to Salinas) this morning:

4 apples; 25 oranges; 3 very large tomatoes; 3 red onions; 1 clove garlic; 1 pound of strawberries; and 2 papayas.

I know some of you future ex-Pats have asked about cost-of-living, etc. so I thought this might give you an idea of what to expect in the Salinas area.

Hope this helps!
