Opening Bank Account in Brunei - Foreign Nationals

Hi, Folks!

My partner recently moved to Brunei, and has been residing in the abode of peace for one year. However, some of the challenges we're experiencing are as follows (based on priorities);

1) Opening a personal bank account, and

2) Obtaining local insurance

Is there any information on how to open a bank account and insurance for foreign nationals (working globally), without the requirements of ‘local' work permit?

Your kind directions is highly appreciated.

Thank you. Stay safe.

Best,

Dear Yoginee!

Thank you for the kind advice. Much appreciated.

I have read through the article and find it very useful. However, one question I have is about the requirement process - based on the excerpts of the article:

'Once you've made your appointment, you will need to compile the following documents to take with you:

• Passport

• Visa

• Rental agreement

• Financial History

• Three months of bank statements

• Employment contract'

For the employment contract - does this has to be local? In the event that employment is global/ international but residing in Brunei, how does this rule apply?

We would appreciate a clarification. Or I may have missed out on some information.

Thank you so much!

Kindest Regards,

Serena.
