Hello everyone, I live in Abruzzo, near the Adriatic sea in a beautiful city. Lately I've really felt like leaving, even though I lived my young age outside Italy and in 1975 I decided to return to my homeland. Now at 75 years old, together with my wife I want to repeat the experience I already had when I was young, but I'm undecided.... Portugal or Cyprus? I have already booked a flight for mid-January and I will meet with an agency, I have contacted more than one, but frankly they give me the feeling that they are just looking for "chickens"!. But is it really that difficult to "do it yourself"? I'm following various advertisements for apartments for rent, but it seems to me that everyone has a treasure to make available for what they ask for. Can you help me recommend some area where we can live peacefully, not near the "sea", an apartment of about sixty square meters furnished with everything, but close to what two elderly people need, (shops/doctor/hospital/transport...) not exceeding +- €500/month (long term)? Could you explain to me for what duration I should have the rental contract to register, in order to obtain residency in Portugal, and to be able to obtain my tax-free pension there? Is it worth (after obtaining residency) to bring a car even if it is quite old and classified EURO 3? Is there much difference between the cost of petrol and diesel? ...How many questions there would be!! Thank you for the suggestions you want to give me. I greet everyone.
