We are 62 and 63 years old. I am a retired teacher and author of children's books, my husband is retired from the SNCF. We lived in Martinique for 8 years and now we would like to move closer to France for family reasons. The Canaries seem well located and correspond to what we are looking for. We are going to spend 15 days in Tenerife in September to check that this island suits us and we hope to settle there in 2016 or January 2017. We are looking for a quiet and safe place. We would ideally like to have a heated swimming pool nearby: our years in Martinique have “tropicalized” us! Our plan is to find a house or apartment, probably in Tenerife south but not in the most touristy areas. Thanks to everyone who gave us some advice!
