Welcome to Ecuador! I arrived on September 17th, 2008 from my hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. I provide Tours & Transport all over Ecuador, a bit over 20,000 km's per / yr for the past 6 1/2 years, but I live and am based out of Quito, the Capital, right on the Equator, at 9,350 ft. (1.77 miles) above sea level in the heart of the Andes Mountains, where the weather is 50's in the evening, and mid to hi 70's during the daytime all year round! I like the fact that I am 51 I like the fact that I have found a rental house 4 br 3 bath home in a gated comm. for $350. w/ 1 more year on the lease, w/ 3 guards on duty most of the time for $15. per month, ...year round spring time temps, $40. power bill, $10. water bill, $10. house phone, 2-3 plastic bags of fresh fruit and vegetables grown nearby in-country for $10.00, lp gas bottles 40# for $2.75, diesel $1.03 / mid grade gas $1.48 / hi-test $1.98, 10mb/ per sec I-net for $40.
traffic, aggresive driving habits of this culture, electronics y appliances 1/3rd higher than US prices. used cars are 3x's higher than US prices. waiting in line to get your drivers license, cedula, censo, car inspected, been waiting on a license plate for my truck for 6 months? things like that, that I am about assimilated to, I have traveled a good bit throughout Europe, N. Africa and the middle east, I have 2 Sons 32 and 30 yrs old, and 5 Grand Children, I wish they and my entire tribe was here, and I am working on it! trying to deprogram myself that I do not have to consume, consume, consume?
