English-speaking Spanish real-estate and tax lawyers with 34 years of experience in Moraira and a new office in Dénia. Led by Juan Antonio Bertomeu, lawyer and tax advisor and Daniel Bertomeu Quiles (host of the YouTube channel “Daniel Bertomeu | Spain Real Estate Lawyer”) and Juan Antonio Bertomeu Vallés, we help foreigners buy, sell and inherit property across Spain—conveyancing, due-diligence, NIE/TIE, non-resident tax (Modelo 210), capital gains & plusvalía municipal, and tourist-rental licensing.
Expat Abogados is a family-run Spanish law firm serving international clients on the Costa Blanca and beyond. Our story started 34 years ago when Juan Antonio Bertomeu Vallés opened our Moraira office. Today, alongside his son Daniel Bertomeu Quiles, we continue that tradition of practical, precise legal work—now with a second office in Dénia and a client base that increasingly finds us online.
About Daniel & our YouTube channel
Daniel is a Spanish real-estate and tax lawyer and the creator of the channel “Daniel Bertomeu | Spain Real Estate Lawyer.” His weekly videos explain how to buy safely in Spain, how plusvalía and capital gains work, what to check before completion, inheritance planning for non-residents, tourist-rental licences, and more. Many clients first meet us through these videos and then ask us to take care of their purchase, sale or inheritance from start to finish.
Where we work
While our home base is Moraira and Dénia (Alicante province), in recent years we have also acted in other Spanish hotspots for international buyers, including Marbella (Costa del Sol) and Ibiza (Balearic Islands)—coordinating notaries, registries and local authorities so clients have one English-speaking point of contact.
What we do
Full conveyancing and completion at the notary, with Land Registry follow-up.
Due-diligence: title and cadastral checks, planning/building compliance, obra nueva declarations and regularisation.
Non-resident taxation: Modelo 210 (rental/attributed income), capital gains, plusvalía municipal, 3% withholding (Modelo 211/210) refunds, and inheritance & estate-planning for cross-border families.
Formalities & licences: NIE/TIE, powers of attorney, tourist-rental licences, and coordination with town halls and agencies.
How we work
Clear communication in English, fixed-fee proposals where possible, and meticulous timelines—when the details matter. You’ll have a single bilingual lawyer responsible for your file. We can act remotely via power of attorney or meet you at our Moraira or Dénia offices; either way, we keep you fully informed from first checks to post-completion taxes.
If you’re an expat or non-resident planning a purchase, sale or inheritance in Spain, Expat Abogados offers the combination of local experience (34 years on the Costa Blanca) and modern, video-led guidance that clients value. Get in touch and we’ll map out a clear, no-nonsense plan for your case.
