In the heart of Hội An’s ancient town, a quiet, restored home has just reopened its shutters to welcome a brand-new French bistro: Maison Lucien. Behind this project is a passionate chef from Normandy with over 25 years of experience, joined by Vy Nguyễn, his professional partner of Vietnamese origin, born in Hội An, who shares the same passion for hospitality, wine, cocktails, and a job well done.

Maison Lucien is above all a story of legacy and transmission.

The restaurant is named after the chef’s grandfather, Lucien, a charcutier in Bayeux, Normandy. A generous craftsman, devoted to real flavor and the joy of family meals, he passed down essential values: simplicity, respect for the product, and love for the craft. These are the values that now come to life in Hội An, in a house lovingly restored.

A responsible renovation, in harmony with heritage

Everything was designed to minimize the carbon footprint of the space. The renovation was carried out in accordance with the UNESCO standards of the ancient town: the traditional yellow façade was preserved, and the original roof timbers were salvaged and reused for the new terrace roof or interior decor. Special care was taken in selecting materials to create a space that is sustainable, warm, and authentic.

Homemade, local, and generous cuisine

Maison Lucien’s menu blends French recipes with Vietnamese touches, always using fresh, local ingredients carefully sourced from the Hội An region.

Homemade, local, and generous cuisine

Maison Lucien’s menu blends classic French recipes with Vietnamese touches, always using fresh, local ingredients carefully sourced from the Hội An region.

Among the signature dishes:

• Homemade country-style terrine with phở spices

• A reimagined Paris-Brest with peanut mousseline cream and lotus seeds

• Grilled rib-eye served with a rich jus made with Sơn La coffee and ot-sim chili

• A duo of Vietnamese chocolates

• Homemade fries with Vietnamese shrimp salt

• Mackerel rillettes with Đà Lạt Greek yogurt and kumquat chutney

• A selection of cheeses, some from Đà Lạt and others, like Camembert, imported from France

• A wine list composed exclusively of French wines, staying true to the restaurant’s roots

Everything is made in-house, with a clear commitment to supporting the local economy. Imported products are limited to essentials, such as select aged cheeses and wines. The rest is sourced as locally as possible, from trusted Vietnamese artisans.
