End of year celebration in Spain

Hello everyone,

Christmas and New Year's celebrations in Spain might feel different this year after the rather unusual year the whole world has had.

We would like to know your plans for the end of the year celebrations and your state of mind at the dawn of 2021.

What are your plans for the end of the year?

Where will you celebrate Christmas and New Year, in Spain or in your home country?

Do you plan to gather with your family for this occasion?

How will it be different from previous years?

What are you hoping for in 2021, especially in Spain?

Thank you for your contribution!

Wishing you a great day,

For New Year in Southern Spain I will spend 31st Dec at home.
This year we have curfew at 1.30am in Spain.

It´s traditional to eat 12 grapes at midnight. They represent each month of the year ahead. As the clock strikes midnight. With each chime, you eat one grape to bring good luck for the year ahead.
I explain more here about local traditions and the atmosphere: https://www.piccavey.com/new-years-granada-spain/

Families typically have a large dinner on the 31st Dec at home and the 1st of January is a quiet day. (like a Sunday)
I am excited to put 2020 behind me (as will many) and start a new year with a better outlook.

Best wishes to all at Expat.com for the festive season and New Year ahead
