IIRC You may be allowed to stay on the island until your children reach the age of 18.

the best for you is to get permit residence or Indifinate stay, but dont take nationality. this should allow you to do everything

How can she do that when she won't be on a spouse of Mauritian permit after her divorce?

she should already have that since she have been married from 10 years, futhermore if your stay is more then 10 years continuesly you can also apply on that basis for indifinate stay if you dont have that.
There are many ways you can make your case, just see good immigration solicitor
