Residency letter

Hi All,
Has anyone been asked for a residency letter for a long stay in Vietnam?
was just wondering someone mentioned it, as I will be moving to
Hoi An early next year full time

Asked by whom?

A travel agent advised me

Get a new travel agent.  You need a visa to enter the country before he can sell you a ticket.  He may mean a letter for visa on arrival but if that shows his grasp of the situation, its time to find a new place to buy your ticket.

thanks

It just occured to me that some airlines will not sell you a one way ticket unless you have a Vietnamese passport or at least a 5 year VEC.  This may be what the agent was grasping for.

Be careful of what you listen to. Many people say things that have no bearing on living in Viet Nam.
