Can anyone recommend a reliable visa agent to process a 1 year or 5 year multiple visa for a female US citizen?

You need to provide more details.

Are you talking about visit visa or a visa/paper CPR? is the person in the GCC or applying from her home country? if visa, then is it sponsored or un-sponsored visa?

The types of agents will vary for each. And so will the cost.

My wife is employed in Bahrain and we would like to sponsor our daughter for a Bahrain residence visa under my wife's sponsorship.

Our daughter is currently in Bahrain on a visit visa.

Is it easier to apply by ourselves or go thru an agent?

You need your wife's sponsor i.e. employer to do this. As even though the daughter would be below the wife, the sponsor needs to give consent and also facilitate the process. And yes, if the sponsor doesn't want to help then it's easier through an agent.
