To me there are indeed some difference. Jeddah is more like Dubai in Saudi Arabia lol. Is much more free than Riyadh. The only difference to me is Riyadh being the capital and having some well known infrastructures. But if you are transferring to Jeddah, much better. You did be able to be a little bit open and enjoy places there. 

So do relax and make the best of it once you are there. Nothing much to worry about when you are there.
