Best cities to live in Denmark

Hi,

It's not always easy to decide in which area to settle in when moving to Denmark. According to you, what are the best cites to live in?

Which regions offer most of the job opportunities, a good quality of life, an affordable cost of living?

Share with us the cities you would recommend to expats and soon-to-be expats in Denmark.

Thank you in advance,

Julien

It depends ...............

Of course most jobs are concentrated in Copenhagen and nearby surroundings, but as the housings are quite expensive that means that you also have to commute a lot. The same tendency we see all over the world. As an expat, I think you shall not think too much over the location, but just go for the job. Maybe the job will be better paid in the capital region, but the expensives are also higher. In the last end, it will be all the same.

Aarhus is the most popular town after Copenhagen and the second largest in Denmark. It should be a very charming town, but with some of the same characteristics as Copenhagen, e.g. commuting, expensive housings and so on.

But it all depends on where you can find a job. As most people want to live in Copenhagen, it might be easier to find a job if you seek out to the outskirts of Denmark, at least within some professions with the physicians as a good example because the hospitals outside the Copenhagen area cannot fill their vacant positions. You will be heartly welcomed.

And then we shall not forget that many of the highly specialised industries are located in Jutland and not in Copenhagen. Therefore many of the engineering jobs are located in Jutland.

Our country is small, but every region has its own character and charm, so just go for the job and see where you end up. I am sure you will be happy despite where you settle down.

I lived in Copenhagen and it is most fantastic cities I know. Yes it is expensive but the facilities and multi cultural society makes it even more attractive. If u have good network, u can never feel bored. Public transport is amazing though expensive.
Aarhus is again cousin of Copenhagen. But little bit quiet and the metro / tog is not as good as kbh. I loved silkeborg , another great city , close to Aarhus. Beautiful nature and small town. Good for family people. Odense is another nice city, however public transport can be issue.

Copenhagen

I can live in any of cities found in Denmark because I want to work in Denmark.

Hello Julien, did you get to a conclusion? I have a similar dilema. I will be working in Copenhagen and I am looking for a different city to live. I want to buy a small house which can be quite affordable when considering a 40-60 min train trip to CPH.
