Has anyone contacted law schools to get a lead to a young lawyer who hung her shingle and will do a flat-rate deal?

Law schools won't help you find new lawyers. Contacting the bar association would be more helpful possibly. Also CA is a huge state which part of CA are you looking for a lawyer and for what kind of case?
Also 99% of the lawyers are only certified in one state not 2

In addition CA and AL would be an unlikely combination.

One state is liberal and the other is conservative. What a combination, lol
