I am very recently retired and living in HCMC. I wish to find a personal physician to see me for all basic items and to refer me, as needed, to specialists or for testing.
I went to a larger hospital in HCMC and spoke with a doctor who seemed to be very good at speaking and understanding English. However, I noticed many unnecessary tests were scheduled and none relating to my visit.
My current need, I believe, would be best handled by either a GP (General Practitioner or a Urologist). I like seeing the same doctor who can have a better idea of my health and various changes.
Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I am very much interested in replies too.
I am considering moving to HCMC from the Bangkok area and am trying to do all my research. I have lived in the Delta for a few months but that's nothing compared to HCMC. Mind you I've visited SGN many times and love it.

I suggest you should go to Medical University in Q.5, HCMC.
If you register in Customer Service section for Foreigners, one of it's English speaking staff will guide you to the doctor. Many doctors posses a higher degree from International Universities, experienced and speak English well. They don't suggest test unnecessarily and the cost is cheaper than other government hospitals.
