Looking for expats in Bulgaria

Looking to buy in Bulgaria so looking for great expats to chat with see where best to buy and great places to be where there are x pats looking for friends etc... bet there has been lots of people posting this ..... are there any good auction places

Well I know first question would be are you looking to live in a city or the country side? I personally wouldn't live anywhere but the capital since it's the biggest city and it has the most things to do that I'm interested in. If you prefer relaxed lifestyle surrounded by nature I know there are great places for that as well. Prices vary greatly as in most countries, Sofia being the most expensive and rural villages the least with everything in-between. As for expats, seems like they are everywhere, most on this site are enjoying the country lifestyle. I've talked to a few at the gym here in Sofia who are working, all seem to be short term like me.

Hi thanx for replying I'm completely new I think if possible a nice town or village near the sea not too far from a town I wouldn't want to feel isolated and still like to go out and do stuff.id like to have it as a holiday home to start then move ...

Hi

If you try FB and search for Bulgaria you will find a lot of groups where you will get your answer much faster.

@ ch85st > I think that if the member is looking for expats, it is best that the member continues to interact with people here as we are actually a website for the expatriates. ;)

Thank you,

Priscilla

Iv had a little look on fb and it is a good idea but when you look it comes up mainly with sales of houses and I think I'd like to buy from an auction so if I can find some expats and they might know where there is a good auction

I dont think you will find an auction site here , your best bet is to come for a few weeks or more for a holliday , see the area  where you think you would like to live, either town , city , or village first , Easy to rent or b&b it. speak to local people , the younger folk speak English.Depending on what area you are looking for the local mayor (kemet ) should know what houses are for sale in village. hope this helps.

one place on Pordim on internet house to buy
I have one here also

Do you know we have a bad reputation here in Bulgaria
started when I landed in Sofia and visited a hotel there
I was swimming with my daughter and then drinking at the sun lounge and people walking past
I say hello in my English as not sure of hello in Bulgarian I can say chow haha
any how a lady smiled said hello Asked if was on holiday I said yes but living here
Oh she says most are retired here and I stated me also thinking of doing so
Her statement was that English are seeking homes near  to each other and not bothering to communicate to the Bulgarian people living around them
My answer was that its nervousness in both counts as not good on English or Bulgarian.
Where I live in uk it is the same with polish or Bulgarians they jibber to themselves and not bother to communicate
in English unless they are talked to in English
so she realise that perhaps more could be done to socialise with each other
I stated that I was the only British person in Pordim and the people are generous in trying to chat to me and me also
Its a laugh really and I met 3 good friends who really can speak English quite fluently and when I shop and I ask a question that we cannot reach an understanding they run over or ring one of these neighbours as everybody know each other What a laugh we have.
Its sad I cannot decide to stay full time when having my 5yr old who just starting school in uk full time
I admit if I had English friends here I may feel different but most my friends are Bulgarian as I no family only my wife who is Asian anyways and my daughter.
England is very none sociable in my realm So im used to being alienated from English speaking. as im retired and in a road where every one is younger or in trouble with authorities so
I do hope friendly Brits would come our way one day.
love all
pete

I am one of 3 in our village and we live at opposite ends of the village, so cant be accused of banding together unless you call us a band of 3.haha.  My village is very small and the residents are really old, whilst most are friendly with the exception of the odd one or two, which you will find in any community all over the world.  Every year I will be given tomatoes, peppers the usual summer crops which is lovely. Despite having a smattering of the language and I really do try i find it so hard but i am getting quite an expert in mime.
