Shipping Goods To Thailand from the States

Has anyone shipped goods from the States (ex.San Diego)to Bangkok?
When reviewing shipping containers a lot of info but would like to get first hand experiences from folks who have actually done this and the best way to go.

Thinking of sending furniture etc.., used, as to avoid tariff on new things.

Also, any info on just sending smaller boxes for Christmas etc.. from a US company?

Lots of companies send from San Diego, to P.I. but can't find info on shipping to Thailand. Asked the P.I. shippers for info but no help.

Thanks for any leads

My advice is not to bother shipping anything from the US.  Unless you are Thai or married to a Thai you run the risk of heavy import duties even though items are used. Sell off what you have except for items that are not replaceable or have sentimental value and buy new it Thailand.  You can then ship only those items on 4X4X8 pallet. To this day I regret sending many of those items.

If you insist on shipping then try one of the following companies which are Thai.  I used one of the N. Hollywood companies and I believe it was Rama International but do not remember for sure because it was ten years ago.  Just ask if they have a Bangkok office because the one we used did have Bangkok office.

They packed the pallet we paid the fee and it was delivered to our house in Thailand.  The shipper took care of clearing customs and delivery to house for a small fee in addition to shipping cost.  It arrived up country without being opened.

Straydog,

Wow, such a quick reply and all that info...and I know it took some time on your part. Thanks!
Ya, I really don't want to ship, but my Thai friend would like to ship the big kitchen items, couches etc.
She's from Thailand, and maybe she has the idea if it comes from the states..it's better quality?? I can't figure it out.

I'll check the prices of the places you listed and see what the going rate will be. I bet it will not be cost effective, and that may change her mind?

Once again, Thanks

Time to put your foot down.  If the kitchen big ticket items are appliances think twice because voltage in Thailand is 220vac not 115vac like USA.  Good quality foreign or locally made furniture can also be purchased in Thailand.

Best of luck.
