That's the extent of excitement available here.

I also cook when I get bored.  Yesterday I did pizza ingredients.  The Arab flat bread makes a great crust and if you can find well-aged mozarella (not that white crap at Panda) then you can have exceptionally deeelish pizzas at home.  I take ground chicken, brown it with Italian seasoning, make sauce and put all in the fridge until ready for a taste of "round food".

I just cant remember the last time I held a ladle in the kitchen. I guess I am way past that era now?

I made a big pot of spaghetti and meat sauce yesterday, in fact!

Funny, the first 3 months I was here, I loved not cooking.  But recently I went out and bought a large 'dutch oven' so that I can make some of my favorites:  spaghetti, stewed chicken and dumplings, chicken soup, Lousiana style chile con carne.  I'll eat it for two nights and then freeze the rest, same as I used to do at home.

I am a single English Engineer guy 32 thinking of moving to Riyadh. I will not be provided with accommodation and will have to live in a flat in Riyadh. The work place will have 1 or 2 Saudis and 2 Egyptians - i.e. nice guys but not Westerners.

[1] Is it critical to be in a compound?
[2] What kind of social life would I have outside the compounds?
[3] What can I do to occupy myself when I come home at night?
[4] How can I meet people?
