We have found our favourite routes in the Marina Alta / Marina Baixa area. There are plenty of nice walks starting from Finestrat, Polop, Guadalest, Tárbena etc.
All in all the Laguart valley (La Vall de Laguar) is our favourite, but in winter we prefer the walks close to the sea. I recommend the routes of Montgó(Denia), Ifach (Calpe), Helada (between Albir and Benidorm).
You find the route descriptions (in English), maps, driving
One more tip: Rincón de Ademuz region in the Province of Valencia is very nice in summer. We spent there two weeks last June
The above mentioned website offers 60 routes in Costa Blanca.

hi anyone who loves mountains.. i keep looking at those alicante summits and cant wait to  find time to bag a few.
Does anyone know if there is a trespass issue if one is on anykind of track path not marked private??

How good is your Spanish! One of the biggest problems about straying is ending up in private hunting areas, this can lead to problems not least of which is getting in the firing line. But generally if you are not doing damage, starting fires etc you should not have a problem but there are Kms of marked paths. Try and find a local walking group or go on a guided holiday to get you started.

thanks spainrico fot advice about the hunting. but im strictly a loner or one other on a mountain.

Happy walking, Ian.
