Hello!!!

Hello everyone! :)

I'm new to the forum.

Brief intro abt myself.

I'm a Singaporean Chinese Female (early 30's), specialising in finance.

Offered a job oppor. in Jakarta; commencing next year.

Would appreciate if Singaporeans already living there throw me some advise and mental prep. notes. :)

My first qn -is it relatively safe? I've been stationed in BKK on and off and seems relatively safe to me.

Thanks in Advance! :)

Also,

I am sourcing for a place to stay and would prefer an area with expats/ chinese.

Please advise.

Thanks!

Hi AurélieZ!!

Thanks for the reply... well, maybe my initial message was a bit wrong. :P

Any feedback are welcome and greatly appreciated from expats who have re-located to Jakarta! esp those with kids.

I have a 5 YO boy and just wondering which are the recommended international schools. well.. not too ex cos my company will be paying for it.

:)

Hi Rhapsody,
Where will your office be located?
Jkt's wayyy bigger than Sg and Bkk, and doesn't have an MRT/BTS system to estimate the distance for you, so you'll want somewhere near to where you work and where your son will be going to school.

Hi!

I have no idea of the exact location.

Heard that it will be away from the city, abt 10 mins from the Air Port...should be away from the Traffic Jam. (My co will be there to be involved in developing the MRT/BTS system):P

I have a few schools in mind, Jakarta Intl, British Intl and ACS International.

Any comments on the above few? Costs is a bit steep for the first 2 choices....

I live close to the airport too, so you may want to consider the area to stay at when you're here. Interesting line of work, but there's been too much talk and hype about it in the past few yrs and nothing ever happens, so I'll leave it at that. It'd be nice to have a similar train system though.

The schools are actually far off and yes, a bit exp as well. When you arrive, are you looking at having your son in grade 1 primary?

My son will be in K2 next year.

Any good International schools that to recommend?

Appreciate your advice! :)
