It would depend on your tax residence status. e.g. if you have stayed in Malaysia for more than 182 days, for the purpose of withholding wage tax, your employer will treat you as a tax resident and therefore, the monthly tax deduction will be based on the progressive tax, after taking into account the compulsory deductions i.e. self , spouse and children.
If you have just arrived in Malaysia , your employer will deduct tax at 26% for the first 6 months that you are in Malaysia or until such time your residence status is established.
