Formerly Mysore, the State of Karnataka is India's 7th biggest city. It is located in the South-west of the country. Karnataka is a very developed region with a growing and diversified economy. It is also known to be one of India's most densely populated States with more than 65 million inhabitants in early 2015. Thanks to the quality of live it provides to its inhabitants, as well as several professional opportunities, Karnataka has been attracting foreigners from all around the world for years. The State is also well-known in terms of silk production. Note that a Silk City should soon come into operation in the region. Industry, for its part, includes aeronautics, electronics, automotive and spare parts manufacturing, etc.

You are likely to find Bharat Electronics Ltd, Indian Telephone Industries, Kirloskar Group, Toyota, Tata Motors, ABB, Larsen, Toubro, Bosch, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, as well as branches of many multinational companies across the State.

Karnataka is also rich in natural resources such as gold, iron ore, quartz, limestone, manganese and other minerals which are exploited for export. It also hosts cement production factories.

Finally, Karnataka also hosts branches of several national and regional banks, namely the Karnataka Bank, the Vijaya Bank, the Canara Bank, the Corporation Bank, and the State Bank of Mysore, etc.

Labor market

Agriculture, including animal husbandry, forestry, fisheries and wood, is a real job mine for locals, particularly in rural regions. Others prefer to work in government organizations and other public services. Thanks to the presence of several higher education institutions and specialized colleges in the region, education is also deemed to be a promising field in terms of employment, followed by information and communication technology and biotechnology.

Furthermore, the Devanahalli Business Park is a boon for business professionals, engineering and aeronautic specialists, as well as highly qualified teachers. Jobs are also available for foreign professionals in the fields of hospitality and catering, banks and finance, insurance, real estate, etc.
