Maintaining a long distance relationship as an expat in the United Arab Emirates

Hello everyone,

Moving to the United Arab Emirates without your significant other can be quite difficult, especially since your partner is an undeniable source of support. This kind of move may require some adjustments from both parties in order to make it a successful one.

What is challenging about being in a long distance relationship in the United Arab Emirates?

How to maintain an adequate level of communication considering differing schedules and time zones?

How often would you travel to each other's location to meet?

How do you manage to still have a social life in the United Arab Emirates?

What hurdles need to be considered if you have left behind children who are under the sole care of your partner?

Thanks for sharing your experience,
Bhavna

good question Bhavna. usually your work schedule makes it really difficult to travel to each other's locations frequently .... plus the cost ! i feel once or twice a year would be the most. absence of children with you hurts you the most, but sometimes these sacrifices are necessary, albeit temporarily. communication, however, is becoming easier now. UAE social life is vibrant, and there are 'interest-specific' or 'gender-specific' active social groups .... and it can be real fun and good unwinding too ..... and above all a very safe country for womenfolk ..... cheers nd welcome !  Kalyan

Yes I Am agree with you , well described.
Also the communication by phone /cam  like Skype is banned , and only have choices of BOTIM and need to pay does not make it easy at all .
It s very important to keep and seeing each other twice a week at least to tell each other all about your
Life and how was your day ...
