That may be difficult as there are responsibilities, both legal and financial, that the sponsor would have to cover.

Makes no difference to the responsibilities of the sponsor. Have you tried travel agents?

Just book a hotel. They will do the rest to send you booking confirmation. Take it to Singapore embassy to get visa. It's very simple.
