Puerto Plata's International Visitor Center has weekly activities in English. This is a volunteer staffed center providing information and activities to English speaking visitors. Open from 11 to 4 Tues to Friday. Here is February's activities
:
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 3rd 3:00 pm. Film and discussion abour the most talked about Dominican film in years: Dolares de Arena. (Sand Dollars), starring Geraldine Chaplin. The story of Noelí, a girl from Las Terenas, her boyfriend, who pretends to be her brother, and a mature French woman, who has found refuge on the island. A profound insight into the complex liaisons of visitors and natives.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10th 3:00 pm. A Presentation about Cap Haitien in the context of recent political events in Haiti by Dr Reginald Kerolle. Cap Haitien is the second city of Haiti. Located on the north coast, known for its rich history and monuments, notably UNESCO world heritage site, La Citadelle, a massive stone mountain fortress. The historic city has numerous markets, churches, and a wealth of French colonial architecture.

WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 17TH 3 PM: Political commentator and UTESA Dean, Hector Jerez sets the stage for the upcoming elections. What to expect on May 15th, not only on the presidency, but of the local elections for Senator, Congressman and Mayor? Mr. Jerez will discuss the candidates, the positions of their parties on local issues and matters of general concern.
WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 24TH 3 PM: The 2016 US Elections (the result of which will affect us all). Skarrn Ryvnine from the Embassy will answer questions and provide voting materials.

BRIT FRIDAYS (3-5 PM) CONTINUE: Tea, biscuits & Downton Abbey final season (Catch up on episodes you missed at the Meeting Place.)
