D-1 month
- Confirm your moving date and give final instructions to your mover.
- Make a detailed list of your belongings to be moved and indicate their replacement value.
- Arrange for childcare and pet care on moving day.
- Clean and dry all appliances to avoid mold and mildew during the move.
D-1 week
- Time to pack, leaving out only the items you will be needing for your last week in the house. Start packing your carry on too.
- Make sure your children's favorite bottles, pacifiers and toys are packed in your carry on.
- Keep all your important documents at hand: airline tickets, vouchers, identification papers.
- Pack a bag with necessities for the trip, such as: snacks and candy, extra clothes, medicine, magazines...
- Set aside your medication and be sure to keep them with you.
- Make sure to earmark and separate the boxes that are moving with you and the ones that you will be leaving behind.
- Empty and defrost the freezer and/or refrigerator and air them out for 48 hours.
On D-Day
- Keep all your important documents handy: plane tickets, IDs, passports, customs forms, arrival contact numbers, etc.
- Make sure your phones and tablets are fully charged before your trip and bring electrical adapters for your destination if needed.
- Before the moving crew leaves, check all the closet bottoms and go around all the rooms to make sure nothing has been forgotten.
- When the move is complete, don't forget to turn off the electricity, water and gas.
