Digital marketing internship positions?

Hi!

I am looking for a digital marketing agency where I could do my internship starting January/February 2018 and lasting for 5 months. I am specially interested in finding an agency where I could practise and deepen my skills in social media marketing, paid social media/video/digital marketing, content creation and SEO.

I am from Finland and finishing my second year of Bachelor´s studies in a University of Applied Sciences.

The company could be situated any place nice in Asia where there would also be a kitesurfing school, as my boyfriend is a kitesurfing instructor.

If you have any ideas please let me know! Thank you for your help!

Katja

Easy one first, your boyfriend can't be a kitesurfing instructor as it would be impossible to get a work permit so any attempt to work would leave him open to arrest, possible fines and even prison time.

I know almost nothing of the digital marketing industry so I can't comment save to tell you you'll need to find a company willing to pay the government's work permit fee of US$1,200 and the roughly Rp1 million KITAS fee.
The basic rule is simple - If an Indonesian can do the job, you can't get a work permit.

Thank you for your reply!

Is it really that difficult to work in Indonesia? Or is it the same in all Asia?

My boyfriend has been working in Thailand as a kite instructor before - I guess some kite schools there have good connections with the local authorities (paying something to the police to close their eyes maybe) to make it possible for foreigners to work for them.

Can be.
Indonesia has a big unemployment problem and a long history that together mean the country is very guarded in many ways, one being the government is very careful who is allowed to do what.
Bali is a very special case because so many people want to live the life, working as a diving instructor or whatever to fund their extended holiday but it just can't be done as you can't get permission to work and working illegally is a very bad idea.

Bali's popularity as an international tourist destination has enticed more foreigners to try their luck at making money on the island. Unfortunately, many of them choose to take the easy way by misusing their tourist visas.

The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office has found a growing trend of foreigners working on the island under tourist visas. From January to October this year, the office had cracked down on 121 foreigners violating the immigration law and all of them had been deported.

The Jakarta Post reports that the 11 Americans and 4 Canadians were arrested on April 10th for misusing tourist visas for photo shoots. They were reportedly part of a photography workshop called Paradise Challenge, and included organizers, photographers, models, a lighting engineer, a hairdresser, and makeup artists.

These guys had work permits but for another job.

Singaraja Immigration in North Bali has deported two foreigners for moonlighting as dive instructors, outside the capacity of their work permits.

The foreigners, identified as a 43-year-old Canadian man and a 29-year-old Danish woman, had Indonesian KITAS work permits, but for different jobs, which didn't exactly involve teaching scuba. The Canadian had a KITAS in his role as president director of a tourist attraction, while the Danish woman had her permit to work as a sales marketing manager, according to head of Singaraja Class II Immigration office, Victor Manurung.

Plenty of others to go at.
