I will be arriving, in Puerto Plata on Wednesday the 5th of July. I need some recommendations on a modestly priced hotel in either Puerto Plaza or Sosua. I will stay there for about 5 days while looking for another temporary place. My goal is to find a long-term furnished rental with good internet, security and either a backup generator or inverter. I hope two week or less with be enough time to find something.

We dont really have hotels in puerto plata. Either use Air BnB of all inclusive hotels.
If all inclusive Gran Ventana, Victoria are my 2 suggestions. Victoria has a modified meal plan available.
