Banking and taxation

Morning all,

I'm likely to be starting a position in Nairobi some time in April working on a healthcare IT project.

Currently back in South Africa after 11 years in England, so I have a bank account in Cape Town and in the UK. Moving money out of SA is very restricted and I'm obviously not able to do any UK banking in person.

If my salary is paid into a Kenyan account, how easy is it to move money to SA? (Bearing in mind that I will be charged by my SA bank for even receiving the money from another country!)

Also, what are current income tax rates like? I will not be taxed in SA as I will be out of the country for more than six months.

And another thing, does it make any difference in which currency  a salary is paid in? The company is international so I could be paid in ZA Rands or Euro's, or whatever I ask for...

And this is all before I've started looking for accomm or a car....
