Cannes bans burkinis over suspected link to radical Islamism

The mayor of Cannes, has banned women from being fully clothed on moral grounds.

The mayor, who's actions seem to be based on clueless bigotry, says the clothing on the left is immoral, but the stuff on the right is fine.

That or public officials should be banned from drinking wine.

It seems the situation is getting much more serious.

The police have now fined a woman for wearing a veil on Cannes beach, but it seems she was also verbally attacked by a crowd of people who just happened to be there with shouts of, "Go home".
The lady is a French national, resident in Cannes.

Whilst this dangerous law, something directly out of Nazi Germany, is bad enough, it's looking as if there is a serious racist element emerging in the mainstream French population.

The lady's reporting of the incident has been backed up by a local reporter who was on the scene.

Whilst this is intended as an expat issue as far as this site is concerned, it's clearly a problem for locals as well.

Further reading has found pictures of the woman being forced to remove her scarf whilst being threatened with pepper spray by one of three armed police officers.
Much as I dislike the 'newspaper' (Read rubbish rag) I found the photos in, the point is clear.

Ah, so Nazi law insisting Jews wore stars was fine?
No, some laws are just wrong.

Anything that attacks innocents because a few in their group are evil is equally evil.

When will extremists and the uneducated learn?

you seem pissed off, guess why don't you share this thread with french cultural ministry, may be they can give you fitting reply. Rest Nazi were Nazi but Jews are doing the same with Palestinians or Chinese are doing with uighurs or any other culture (not mean to insult anyone)

Basic rules if one person is doing wrong, by blowing himself or herself in public than authorities have to take certain action. Check this article may be its eye shiner for you.

Now you will say after reading this, Oh man now france will ban Iraqi or Palestinian boys. Its simple they are protecting people because when person died in such attack. Than whole family is destroyed. Its like whole family suffer that suicide attack and hatred increases.

I live in that world where we are just 200 km away from Pakistan and we know that these things are not normal and hurt us from inside. Reading, writing and shaming past in the name of nazi is very easy and I am certainly not interested in replying again.

Thanks for reading :)

Hatred is foolish.
Your hate is no different to the hate spouted by the extremists in any group.

A very few evil people attack, but that's considered a reasonable excuse to hate all of a group.
Consider this, ISIS is attacking France because they blame the whole of France for French government bombing attacks in Syria that have mass murdered civilians.

No, the idiocy of tit for tat hatred has to stop.

Hi everybody,

This thread is actually going too far.  :o
There is no room for such controversies on Expat.com.

I regret but we are forced to close this thread.

Thanks for your understanding,
