Has anyone any experience of shipping things from the Uk. More specificly a motorcycle. Iv heard that things can get held in the ports and you are made to give back handers to get the itens released.

Yep, dunno about motorcycles but for cars if it's over 5 years old then you'll face issues, bribe etc etc.
Better off using a broker for it.
