Now a Days Millions doing business but few only get succeed.
What is more important is Survival in business rather than just earning profit.

For the Business/Product/Brand to succeed what is the real strategy required?

Is Marketing and Promotion Same?
If not then What is the difference and Why?

I think if your service or product is unique, with high quality that stands out, has reasonable price, add to that good marketing and utilization of the new media and social networking platforms, for marketing or promoting, you will definitely succeed.
