Living/Working in Rome

I'm from a small backwoods town in NH,USA and have set my sights high.  In the next year or two I would like to prepare myself for moving to Rome.  So far I just have my ambition and "Idiots guide to learning Italian".  So any advice anyone can give me would be most welcome!  I'm just following my passions:  cuisine, greek and roman mythology, architecture, and interior design.  I don't know where they will lead me, but getting there is half the fun right?

hi josh!  i, too, am from a small town in new england (Maine) and trying to move to rome...i live in Mass. now...i'm finding that unless you have Italian or EU citizenship, it's awfully difficult to land a job...the visa process is frustrating..i'm seriously considering the teaching english route right now b/c there is a demand over there for mother-tongue teachers...anywho, perhaps we can help each other out!!  feel free to e-mail me directly if you'd [email protected] of luck!!
