Citizenship and Backround Check

Hi,

In what case would Turkey do a backround check when someone is applying for citizenship?

Hi Persephone88,

The naturalization process of almost every nation in the world requires a Certified Criminal Record Check, it may be called by a different name in each country, but they all want to know if you have any criminal history when applying for citizenship. Some nations go even farther and want to know about civil actions or charges that didn't even result in criminal convictions. The rule of thumb is - If they ask a question on the application form you have to answer it and don't try and fudge it because they will be checking through all channels available to them.

The check is done in all cases, and you should request the document from your local police as soon as possible since they often take time to produce it for you.

Thank you. Is there normally a backround check done for a Turkish Residence Permit?

No, there is no such checking once you provide all relevant documents.

Thank you. It sounds like it would be much faster to just get a residence permit. Does having a residence permit allow someone to work in and own a small shop in Turkey?

No it does not allow to work or own a shop. You need a work permit which will be sponsored by a company registered in Turkey.
